The Center for Marine Justice endorses the “Marine Justice and International Law” research group before Colombia’s Ministry of Science and Innovation. The group’s mission is to contribute to the generation of academic knowledge and the social appropriation of knowledge. The research is based on solid, ongoing work with local communities and combines critical analysis with an impact not only at the academic level but also at the practical level.

In particular, the research group has focused on SDGs 4, 5, 7, 13, 14, and 16, which relate to education, gender, energy, climate action, the protection of marine life and coastlines, and peace, justice, and strong institutions, respectively. To this end, the Group is supported by several researchers holding master’s and doctoral degrees, with publications in various fields and significant experience in university teaching. 

The Group’s research and academic output are rooted in solid, ongoing collaboration with local communities, with whom it engages in a continuous process of joint critical analysis that has an impact not only at the academic level but also in practice.

The Group leads the Center’s publishing efforts. Currently, the following are published: the journal Blue Documents; the series Law of the Sea, Climate Change, and Human Rights; educational materials; the digital library of infographics; proceedings of academic events; and articles published in journals.
